Raj Fernando is the CEO of Scoutahead.com and the former founder and CEO of Chopper Trading. Fernando has over 25 years of experience in international financial markets and ten years of experience in cyber security. Fernando has vast knowledge in technological innovation and foreign policy organization too. Therefore, the companies that he leads and other organizations where he is a member of the board look up to him for financial advice. Fernando pursued Bachelors in economics and history from Beilot College and studied at the University College London.
Raj Fernando worked as a volunteer at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange while still in college. He continued serving there after graduation and later rose to one of the executive positions at the Chicago Board of Trade. Fernando worked with other companies like Rosenthal Collins Group and LFG as a bond trader and Indosuez Carr Futures as the financial futures broker. He founded Chopper Trading in 2002, and after two years, he stopped full-time trading to concentrate on growing his company.
In over one decade, Raj Fernando succeeded in making Chopper Trading one of the leading technological powerhouses in U.S. The company has over 250 well-vetted employees who are the best and brightest engineers and traders there is in the market. Through the help of his highly competent workers, the company has traded on the LSE, ICE, Nasdaq, Eurex, ICAP-Broketek, Cantor Fitzgerald-espeed and CME among others. Raj Fernando sold the company to DRW in 2015, and it now operates as its subsidiary.
In 2016, he launched Scoutahead.com. Since inception, the internet startup delivers trusted information to companies and individuals in Chicago. The aim of their services is to increase productivity among employees and promote the growth of businesses. Scoutahead allows the employees to choose their evaluation criteria thus taking charge of their growth.
Raj Fernando also is on the Board of Directors for the American Security Project and a Member of the Board of Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Additionally, he serves on the Foreign Policy Leadership Committee at the Brookings Institute. He supports other charitable works and organizations including the Clinton Foundation, Wounded Warriors, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Metropolitan Chicago.
